History of Christmas Stocking Stuffers

One of the most popular gifts during the holiday season is a stocking stuffer or gift bag. A Christmas stocking is simply a stocking or sock-like gift bag that is empty. It is usually hangown on Saint Nicholas Day, or Christmas Eve, so that Saint Nicholas can fill it with small gifts, candies, or toys. These small items are commonly referred to as stocking fillers or stocking stuffers. In the US, stocking stuffers are also called stocking stuffers and they are traditionally made out of paper.

Historically, many families gave stockings as Christmas presents as it was quite economical to do so. Many families used stocking stuffers to keep their children warm in the winter months. Traditionally, young children would wrap their stockings with bows and flowers just before wrapping them up for storage in the stockings until Christmas Eve. The stockings would be taken by parents to their rooms, where they would be left for Santa to gift to the children who waited so patiently outside.

Many parents still use Christmas stocking stuffers for stocking their homes for the holidays. They can be used to store small toys and small gifts as well as books, ornaments, and other small toys that children might like to play with until dinner. Stocking stuffers can be used as luck charms for the Christmas season. The contents of a Christmas stocking are quite unique due to the fact that they are filled with various items that may not necessarily be traditional Christmas gifts, such as little birds, candles, tinsel and other symbols often associated with the holiday.
